Surface mount LEDs for Auto focus flash by Rohm
Rohm developed the two high output surface mount LEDs to fit the side-view and top-view for the application of compact digital still and video cameras. These new series of LEDs is expected to replace the existing Lamp LEDs which requires manual bending in applications where the optical axis is aligned laterally to the circuit board. Now the top view LED (SML-J1) claim to have the smallest profile in the industry at 4.5mm. In addition to its small form factor it has a high intensity element capable of ultra light brightness 28cd at 20mA plus an optimized lens and frame shape for extremely narrow directivity. They come in variety of colors including orange, red, yellow, yellow-green, green, and infrared (for nighttime illumination).
