World’s first photovoltaic power conditioner by OKI
A joint development effort by OKI Power Tech an OKI group company involve in development and manufacturing of power supply units and JFE Electrical & Control Systems resulted in industry’s first photovoltaic power conditioner. This product was developed to address the issue of power conversion inefficiency in insulated applications. This 10kW power conditioner provides a efficient power generation by applying a digital signal processing controller to an insulated DC-DC converter to be used in an outdoor environment with a focus on heat dissipation and maintainability. The system works by way of multiple phase control method where number of DC-DC converters are being controlled through DSP controller to insure the optimal operation and conversion rates and at the same time providing ability to the power conditioner to control the input/output power voltage and current. As a result of this the new power conditioner has a capability in maintaining a conversion efficiency of over 90% at only 50% output. The power conditioner provides a parallel operation with multiple units as well as network connection function. Further to his the power conditioner is able to increase output capacity something that was difficult to achieve with the previous power conditioners plus it has monitoring functions. The power conditioner will be available in October of 2009.
