Multi-purpose transparent gas-barrier film by Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi Plastics inc. has unveiled yet another product in the company’s X-Barrier series product lines which was introduced back in June of 2008. The new product “View-Barrier” is a transparent film with a high gas barrier property which has been designed to be used on front surface of flexible OLED panels, electronic paper display, and organic thin film as well as dye sensitized solar cells. The “View-Barrier” in addition to its high gas barrier property to water and oxygen can provide an anti-reflective, transparent conductivity, low contractility, ultraviolet protection as well other characteristics depending on the targeted application. The “View-Barrier” has been manufactured in vacuum equipment through roll-to-roll processing according to the company. The “View-Barrier” is a substitution for the current combination of glass and other functional films. Mitsubishi Plastic did not provide any pricing information in regard to this product by added that the product can be mass produced at a lower cost than that of glass products.
