Internet Access via Wireless LAN using au’s mobile phone “biblio”
The “biblio” is an optimal model for reading, with a 7 GB data folder enabling users to carry a shelf-full of books around, and a 3.5-inch Full Wide VGA touch screen. KDDI went one step further by announcing “Wi-Fi WIN” services allowing users to access the Internet via Wireless LAN using au’s mobile phone “biblio”. Through “Wi-Fi WIN” service the user is able use Wireless LAN access point and the fixed broadband line instead of using the conventional au network allowing the user to access internet with the maximum speed of 54Mbps and freedom of smooth downloading of rich contents such as music and video. The new service will help users to distance themselves away from packet charges as part of KDDI’s standard charging model. Furthermore, by using PC viewer (Opera Mobile 9.5) it will be possible to access “You Tube” adapting to Flash Video. The “Wi-Fi WIN” service supports the encryption technology such as WEP or WPA, but does not require the WEB authentication allowing uses of service such as FREE SPOT via public wireless LAN where required web authentication is not required. Monthly charge of using “Wi-Fi WIN” service is 525 yen but up to the end of June 2011 it will be free of charge.
