June 29, 2009 · Filed Under Trendy Products · Comments Off

The BSI-TOYOTA Collaboration Center otherwise known as BTCC has successfully developing a system utilizing the fastest technology in the world in controlling a wheelchair using brain waves in a time as little as 125 milliseconds. Being a new signal processing technology for brain machine interface (BMI) application, it is a Real-time control of wheelchairs with brain waves. The Brian Machine Interface (BMI) based system would allow elderly or physically challenged individuals to interact with the world through signals from their brain without any needs to give voice commands. The recently developed technology uses combination of RIKEN’s blind signal separation and space-time-frequency filtering technologies to allow brain-wave analysis in as little as 125 ms in comparison to the conventional methods of several seconds. Development of Programmable Defect Prediction Technology by NEC

June 25, 2009 · Filed Under Trendy Products · Comment

Defect prediction is a new LSI technology where an LSI maintains a high reliability by preventing errors and continuing to operate correctly. The current error handling procedures of conventional technologies are complicated and expensive since they are initiated only after errors occur where as the defect prediction technology enables a highly-reliable system at a low cost since the system can take precautions before errors occur. Furthermore, maintaining a high reliability and low cost among the future ultra-fine, large-scale LSI is expected to be a difficult task to accomplish. In response to this mundane challenge, NEC and NEC Electronics Corporation (NECEL) announced the development of a programmable defect prediction technology. Read more

Development of scalable High-Speed MRAM technology for system LSI Embedding by NEC
