Development of image adjustment LSI by OKI Semiconductor

June 15, 2009 · Filed Under Trendy Products

Among the various electronic devices with display system vehicle mounted camera system in particular have seen an increasing demand in worldwide scale. Furthermore, among display system for such camera system, demand for car audio systems with TFT LCDs is expected to grow due to growing awareness for ubiquitous car navigation systems. Currently, due to its cost effectiveness many audio systems with display panels are simply built by just adding a display monitor to an existing car audio system but optimizing the image quality in such system is technically challenging. In response to this challenge OKI Semiconductor has developed an image adjustment LSI incorporating a Timing Controller (TCON) targeted at small to mid sized TFT LCDs. The ML86V8101 offers an optimal image adjustment with contrast and brightness adjustment and gamma correction which are needed for adjusting brightness and color hue of video by controlling linearity between input and output image data.
The built-in TCON enables direct connection to TFT LCD panels displaying video images in various formats, including QVGA and QHD. The operating temperature of ML86V8101 ranges from -40°C to +85°C which make the LSI ideally suited for use in vehicle-mounted graphic display systems, including car navigation systems, audio systems equipped with a display monitor, and RSEs (Rear Seat Entertainment) such as DVD, Digital TV systems, etc. We are currently shipping ML86V8101 samples. The full-scale product launch is scheduled for August 2009.

  1. Development of Industry's Lowest Power Flash Microcontroller By Oki Semiconductor | Japan Technology Information on November 26th, 2009 4:45 pm

[...] Oki Semiconductor has introduced Industry’s lowest power 8 bit flash microcontroller. The ML61Q400 series of 8-bit microcontrollers are capable of operating from 1.1V, as well as the current consumption of only 0.5uA during clock OFF. The 3-stage pipeline architecture on these microcontroller enables performance that is equivalent to a conventional 16 bit microcontroller. This high performance CMOS 8 bit microcontroller is equipped with eight bit CPU nX-U8/100 as its core. Being equipped with LCD driver, two kinds of A/D converter plus on chip debugging function makes the ML61Q400 series an ideal solution for compact and portable tools that are equipped with LCD display function such as wristwatch, the pedometer, heart rate monitors and thermostats. Furthermore, the new controller is available for industrial devices such as data loggers used for the temperature management for foods, etc, due to their enhanced operating temperature of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius.
