Introduction of new compact 6-axis robots by Epson
Today Epson Corporation introduced the addition of new “C3 series” to its popular range of six-axis vertically articulated robots, a robot with an operating mechanism consisting of five- or six-axis joints. The new model features a best in class speed and accuracy in a slim body. The new C3 series is the first compact model with in the ProSix series of six-axis robots which employ Epson’s high-speed, low vibration Smart Motion Control technology featuring optimal functionality for precision assembly of small parts. Epson’s high-speed, low vibration Smart Motion Control technology is a tuning method for optimization of the operation of the six axes based on Epson’s accumulated know-how in the development of SCARA robots. Among some of the key features for the new C3 series are; fast cycle time of 0.3 second range for 1kg load, with repeatability of±0.02mm, less interference with peripherals, walls and ceiling permitting a more compact installation, compact wrist (5th joint) with wide motion range resulting in smooth movement and the ability to work from many angles plus minimal interference with surroundings which has resulted in flexibility in hand design. Epson will begin shipping the new C3 series by late July 2009.
