Introduction of New Electronic Board by Hitachi Software
Hitachi Software Engineering announced new models of “StarBoard” an electronic board targeted for educational institution. The first version of “StarBoard”, PX-DUO-50 will be available from August 17 2009. “StarBoard PX-DUO-50” is designed for school ICT (Information and Communication Technology) by improving user interface through introduction of plasma display for its display panel and complementing it with digital terrestrial broadcasting tuner. The second version which is a projector type “StarBoard will be available sometimes in second half of fiscal year 2009. The second version by the tentative name of StarBoard Next-FX-DUO will come with a universal digitizer kit (UDK) which can support various sizes of TVs and blackboard. The third version of these boards will be available for sale sometimes in 2010 in form of an attachment capable of transforming a terrestrial digital TV to an Electric board. The electronic board “StarBoard” is capable of recognizing characters written by hand as well as being able to display enlarged textbook and notebook by working with a help of camera. Furthermore, it is capable of searching for information on the web and displaying the result. “StarBoard” will offer an interactive learning to its users through gesture resulting in improvement level of participation through increase in student’s concentration and willingness for learning according to the company. Well, 21st century education is all about interacting with your educational environment in a more cohesive way, but I don’t believe an Electronic board will be the sole factor in increasing the level of concentration our youngsters in their class room. It will be simple extension of game tools and other interactive multi media devices which they will experience outside of school. It will be sometimes to see the effect of these gadgets at school.
