Development of world’s lowest power consumption compact integrated 40Gbps DPSK Receiver by Fujitsu
The introduction of 40Gbps optical transmission equipment in network backbone to meet the increasing volume of data communication in the network as a result of new service offerings such as cloud computing and on-line streaming and at the same time advancement in transmission speed has contributed in growing complexity and size of these optical equipment which resulted in needs for larger installation space and higher power consumption for these equipments. In order to meet the challenge of minimizing the size and power consumption of 40Gbps transponder, Fujitsu Optical Components has successfully developed a compact integrated 40Gbps DPSK Receiver with world’s lowest power consumption. The newly developed receiver which is used for 40Gbps optical transponders is capable of handling DPSK which is a primary format of phase modulation resulting in a more compact size and energy efficient transponders. The newly developed receiver has a maximum of 0.7W of power consumption approximately 1/4 that of the conventional model. In addition to this, the new receiver features integration of Delay Line Interferometer and Balanced Receiver to provide highly reliable sealability and compactness for mounting purposes as well as user friendly interface through integration of multiple DC control terminals on one flexible print circuit and enhanced connection and circuit board arrangement as well as simplified reworking process. The sales of the new receiver will commence on October 1st, 2009.
