October 13, 2009 · Filed Under Trendy Products

Seiko Epson made an announcement on volume production of new liquid crystal panels 3LCD chips to be incorporated into 3LCD home projectors. Measuring only 1.34 cm diagonally, the new high-temperature polysilicon (HTPS) TFT 3LCD chips features a QHD (960×540) resolution. The development of new 3LCD chip by Epson was a response to market demand for HD media players and digital HD broadcasts with large screen viewing option for home with improved resolution and quality of source images. In development of this product Epson has employed its latest D7 process technology in order to widen the new panel’s aperture ratio to 75% resulting in 156% improvement in comparison to previous panels. The new panels employ liquid crystal material with high light resistance to offer higher levels of brightness meeting the high light of home projectors. The new panel also achieves a higher quality of moving images through reduction of flicker and light leak with double scan and frame inversion driving technology where data written into each pixel has the same polarity and is written in at twice the conventional speed, polarity is also inverted before data is written in.
