Installation of Solar Parking Lot in Tokyo by SANYO
Sanyo Electric as part of company’s effort in promoting smart energy systems by combining solar panels, rechargeable batteries and electric hybrid bicycles made an announcement that it will install “Solar Parking Lot” in Setagaya Tokyo in Spring of 2010. The solar parking lot will incorporate solar panels and a lithium-ion battery system plus provides electric hybrid bicycles, “eneloop bike“. The solar panels being installed on the roof of the parking shall provide the energy needed for recharging the electric hybrid bicycle batteries plus it will provide power to illuminate the parking lot lights. The solar panel that will be installed on the roof of the parking will be HIT solar panel with approximately 46m2 surface area and power of 7.56 kw sufficient to recharge batteries of 40 “eneloop bike” units and light up the LED parking lot lights. Furthermore, the new parking lot will incorporate a “DC charger” and “wireless remote monitoring system.”The DC charger will allow the generated and stored photovoltaic energy in DC to be used directly and effectively without any needs for AC conversion. The wireless remote monitoring system will provide a way to check the entire system’s operation status from a remote location. This new project is part of on going effort by Sanyo to realizing a clean energy society by reducing CO2 emissions and creating balance in power supply/demand.
