Development of 6ch High-side Constant Current LED Driver IC by TOKO
TOKO has developed a low dropout 6ch high-side constant current LED driver IC in a very small 12-bump flip chip package. The newly developed TK60033AB7 IC has two groups of LED driver blocks which are separated into a 4ch and a 2ch, where each group has an independent enable control input pin (EnA, EnB) and an LED current setting pin (SetA, SetB) allowing two different output current settings. In an event when higher current is required, connecting the LED output pins in parallel is one possible way of increasing the LED current since each LED output pin is an independent high-side current source. The brightness of each LED in newly developed TK60033AB7 can be controlled by applying a pulse width modulation (PWM) dimming signal to each enable pin. Within the TK60033AB7 no switching signals are generated eliminating any electromagnetic interference (EMI) issues. The small form factor of the IC package helps in reducing a the space required for portable applications. The new TK60033AB7 offers a good LED current matching, high accuracy of +/- 3% at 15mA LED current, low dropout voltage, capacitor less design, over-current and over-temperature protection to name a few.
