Development of Multi Function Printer for Cloud Computing by RICOH
Cloud Computing which many consider to be the major reviving factor in the IT industry all thanks to proliferation of advances web applications finding itself available to array of software applications such as storage and information sharing, CRM, personal management and payroll calculation to name a few. The idea of cloud as some people call it is nothing new, but its application by many vendors is just heating up. One such company is Ricoh that made an announcement on development of “App2Me” which is a Multi Function Printer (MFP). The App2Me is a widget based solution for cloud era. Ricoh has adopted the widget style in providing a capability whereby using MFP by simply downloading a widget to personal IT terminals such as PCs, smart phones, etc. without any special setup. Furthermore, documents can automatically be saved to the data storage area on cloud simply by scanning them on the MFP and aligning “App2Me” with Cloud applications. Ricoh is planning to start providing applications for the “App2Me” by middle of January 2010.
