Development of New Plasma Display Panels by Panasonic

Panasonic made an announcement on development of ground breaking display technology with super efficiency operation of only 95 watts. The new quadruple luminance efficiency plasma panels are incorporated in Panasonic’s newly unveiled 152-inch full HD 3D plasma display and VIERA Cast-enabled HDTVs supporting Skype video calls on display at CES 2010 in Las Vegas. In developing the quadruple luminance efficiency panel had to develop a new phosphor materials, super high-speed drive technology plus adaptive signal processing technology in order to reduce power consumption and improvement in all the facets of panel illuminating process which includes discharge, illumination and light extraction resulting in development of display technology that consumes powers less than a typical room lamp’s 100-watt light bulb. The new panels achieve a 5,000,000:15 contrast ratio along with superb color rendition and subtle gradation of tones. The new panels in addition to their inherent self-illuminating plasma technology that offers wide viewing angles and full resolution of moving pictures , feature high-contrast, full-color, higher brightness, crisp and clear spectacular images. The new technology extends the application of plasma display technology to medical application, film studios as well as post-production houses, education, government and businesses of various types.
