Development of Dynamic Optimal Path Management Technologies for Mobile and Fixed Networks by NEC
NEC Corporation made an announcement on extending OpenFlow Technologies to Mobile Network as part of promoting globally open innovation for future Internet technologies. The new technologies incorporated modules capable of observing the utilization status of multiple base stations for each mobile communication method, dynamically selecting the most suitable mobile communication routes by analyzing location information within mobile networks, received signal power level, communication resource utilization and mobile backhaul congestion.
In addition to these capabilities, the new technologies provide high quality services through dynamic switching between heterogeneous mobile communications methods and improved energy efficient method by switching off the low communication load base station for mobile backhaul networks, including base stations, network lines, switches and servers. Furthermore, the use of OpenFlow will provide an efficient and flexible network management of mobile networks, a must due to its ever growing speed and bandwidth. Through use of these new technologies mobile communications carriers would benefit in a great cost saving in operational management while creating new services.
