The World Debut of the European Specification of Honda CR-Z Hybrid Coup
Honda Motor will showcase its all new Honda CR-Z hybrid coup,designed with European specification. The new CR-Z features a 2+2 seating layout plus an eight LED daytime running light accent under each of the headlamps. CR-Z for the first time will combine a hybrid system with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The CR-Z offers a lower emission of all exhaust gasses, thanks to combination of an efficient 1.5-litter engine with Honda’s unique IMA parallel hybrid system.
The flexibility of the IMA parallel hybrid system would allow the drivers to use it with a manual gearbox, allowing them to have access to broad spread of torque, while maintaining excellent fuel economy of just 5.0 l per 100km. Furthermore, the new CR-Z has been fitted with a 3-Mode Driver system, allowing the driver to choose between three driving modes, which changes the responses of the throttle, steering, idle stop timing, climate control and the level of assistance which is provided by the IMA system. All this, would allow the driver to adapt the vehicle’s setting to enjoy their choice of road, maximize economy or a balance of both. The SPORT mode will provide a sharp throttle response as well as providing a more electric motor assistance while increasing the weight of the electric power steering. In the ECON mode, the vehicle will priorities fuel economy in the operation of the drive by wire throttle, ECU, air conditioning and the hybrid system. Additionally, the Eco Assist function, in conjunction with the ECON mode, allows the driver to enjoy a best economy driving experience in a heavy traffic environment. At other times, the vehicle can be run in a NORM mode, providing a balance between performance, economy and emissions, ideal for most driving situations. The CR-z will go on sale across Europe by middle of 2010. Honda will announce the CR-Z prices at the Geneva motor show.
