Development of Half-Slim Type Solid Sate Drive Module by TDK
TDK with a history of achieving increases in the life spans of semiconductor memory storage devices has made an announcement on development of a new half slim type solid sate drive (SSD) modules. The new SHG2A series have a maximum capacity of 32GB, and about half the size of a 1.8-inch hard disk drive (HDD). The new SDDs are equipped with GBDrive RS2 series SATA controller ICs developed also by TDK. The SDDs support high speed access with an effective read speed of 95 MB/s and an effective write speed of 55 MB/s. Furthermore, they feature powerful error correction capabilities which is scalable to 15-bit/sector error correction code (ECC), resulting in high levels of data reliability. Additionally, the use of an internal power supply protection circuit prevents any errors in the event of power interruption.
The auto-recovery function on these SDDs will automatically recover data when read disturbance errors occur from repeated reading of data, which make them ideal for automobile applications like car navigation systems. The new SATA Flash drives feature an advance encryption function using 128-bit AES encryption, where the data is automatically encrypted before writing to the Flash memory, preventing any data leaks and tampering. The new SHG2A series of industrial half slim SSDs are ideal for replacement of HDDs. Among some of the applications for the new SDDs are; Thin client PCs, automotive equipment such as car navigation systems, office equipment such as multi-function printers and commercial projectors, factory automation equipment such as NC machine tools and medical and measuring instruments to name a few. The company is planning a monthly production capacity of 20,000 units with start of production to commence on April 2010 at a production facility in Taiwan.

[...] TDK-EPC has developed a power factor correction system, a portable measuring equipment for grid analysis. The newly developed MC7000-3 is designed for measuring voltage in ranges from 3 x 30 V AC to 440 V AC (L-N) as well as 3 x 50 V AC to 690 V AC (L-L) at 50 Hz or 60 Hz. The new system can record a current of 3000 A with the aid of a clamp-on ammeter. The new MC7000-3 is designed specifically in determining the reactive, apparent and real power and power factor, while at the same time is capable of recording the voltage and current harmonics. The system displays the data and readings on a 28 x 64-pixel numerically or graphically and the result can be saved on an 1GB SD flash memory card where later on can be outputted in Excel format or simply can be printed out. The newly developed MC7000-3 is ideal for very simple on-site dimensioning of client specific PFC installations or evaluating the performance of existing systems. The standard menu languages are English, German, Russian, Spanish and Turkish. Share and Enjoy: [...]
