Development of World’s Smallest Bluetooth Modules by MURATA Manufacturing
Murata Manufacturing made an announcement on mass production and shipment of world’s smallest Bluetooth modules in its “LBMA Series”. The new module has a form factor of 3.5×3.5mm making them 30% smaller than previous products. The new module is based on high frequency design module technology, achieving excellent electromagnetic wave resistant characteristics through company’s original packaging technology. The new modules are in compliance with RoHS directive. The new module is targeted for mobile applications such as mobile phone, portable music player, PMP (Portable Media Player), PND (Portable Navigation Device), digital photo frame as well as MID (Mobile Internet Device).
The newly developed LBMA43PQN has a Bluetooth specification of Ver2.1+EDR, supply voltage of 3.3V, output power of 0dBm (Class2) and sensitivity of -79dBm with a host interface of UART. Murata is planning for a monthly production of 20 million units.
