Industry’s First SAW-less Transceiver Supporting 3GPP Wireless Technology by FUJITSU
Fujitsu Microelectronics America (FMA) unveiled the world’s first 3G and LTE SAW-less transceiver. The single chip transceiver is backward compatible with a high-level programming model (API) for radio control using DigRF/MIPI D3G as well as D4G open standard digital interfaces. The new chip provides the mean for mobile phone manufacturers to reduced components, board space and overall BOM (Bill Of Materials).
The new transceiver has been optimized for compressed mode operation, featuring quad-band GSM/EDGE and up to five WCDMA or LTE bands in a single phone configuration. The MB86L10A has 8 outputs that directly drive the power amplifier, eliminating any needs for TX SAW filters, while supporting advanced multimode PAs. The receiver has 9 inputs, supporting LTE, WCDMA and GSM/EDGE. The MB86L10A currently is in pre-production phase. Samples of the MB86L10A manufactured in 90nm CMOS process technology is now available in 230-pin, 6.5 mm x 9.0 mm x 9.0 mm LGA packages.
