Development of New High Efficient Compact Printed Circuit Board Type AC-DC Switching Power Supply by TDK
TDK-Lambda Corporation has developed a new high efficient compact form factor printed circuit board (PCB) type AC-DC switching power supplies. The new ZW-BAF series offer increase conversion efficiency of about 5% and feature a decreased size of about 30% in comparison to TDK’s previous product ZWS-AF series. The conversion efficiency can be reached as high as 90% on ZWS150BAF product, which is considered high among the PCB type power supply. The new development is a response to the growing demand in the market for switching power supply capable of delivering high efficiency as well as lower standby power consumption.
Among some of the key features on this new series are; efficiency at light load conditions, suppression of internal heat generation resulting in smaller heatsinks or eliminating them altogether which has contributed in making smaller size PCB. Furthermore, the new series offer an improved heat dissipation effect resulting in wider operating temperature range of -10 to +70 degrees Celsius, allowing 100% load ratio operation under 50 degrees Celsius environment. TDK will sell the product under the brand name “TDK-Lambda”. TDK has started the sale of the product as of today July 20th, 2010.
