Development of a New Platform for Highly Efficient Power Supplies for Industrial Applications
Murata manufacturing made an announcement on successful development of a new platform for manufacturing highly efficient power supplies targeted at industrial equipment market. The new development was prompted in response to growing demand for energy conscious industrial equipment. The new platform, the MVB series, currently consists of two products, and company is planning to expand the lineup with new models in the future.
The new products carry Murata’s original resonant circuit using customized ICs, resulting in an efficiency of 91.5% at AC 240V 300W, among the highest in the industry. The platform achieves the long life through suppressing heat generation and optimization of heat radiation. Furthermore, the design will eliminate any needs for cooling fan. The 150 W products in this new MVB series supports the continuous 180 W operation depending on the cooling conditions, while the 300 W product’s peak operation at 480 W can be guaranteed for up to 10 seconds. Both products are compliant with the IEC60950 safety standard. The new MVB applications range from semiconductor manufacturing equipment to various measuring and analysis devices, as well as industrial robot equipment and LED display devices to name a few. The company holds two patents on this new platform.
