Release of Industry First Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS Image Sensor for use in Mobile Phone by SONY
Sony has announced the development of two new “Exmor R” back-illuminated CMOS image sensors to be used for mobile phones. At the same time Sony will launch two new lens modules that are equipped with these image sensors. The IMX081PQ is industry’s first 1/2.8 type back-illuminated CMOS image sensor with an effective 16.41 megapixel resolution, in addition of being industry’s smallest unit pixel size of 1.12?m. The other image sensor by Sony, the IMX105PQ is a 1/3.2 type back-illuminated CMOS image sensor with effective 8.13 magepixel resolution for higher sensitivity with a unit pixel size of 1.4?m.
Based on this technology, Sony will commercialize two compact size auto-focus lens modules “IU081F” and “IU105F2” equipped with these sensors to be used in space limited mobile phones.
