Construction of Pilot Plant for Manufacturing Heat-resistance, Transparent Film by SDK
Showa Denko K.K. (SDK) has started up the construction of its pilot plant at its Oita Complex for manufacturing heat-resistant and transparent film to be used in the filed of displays including touch screen, LCDs as well as other applications requiring optical films requiring high performance. The plant will have the capacity of producing films in the form of rolls and sheets at several hundred thousands square meters of the film a year. The film can be used in high temperature processes of up to 250 degrees Celsius with high light transmittance of 92%, comparable to that of glass and low double refraction.
Furthermore, it will have a high resistance to acids, alkali, and organic solvents, plus it has a high surface hardness of 3H or more. The plant is scheduled to go operational by June 2011.
