Launch of Flexible Luminescent Poster incorporating High-intensity Inorganic EL by DNP
Dai Nippon Printing will start the full scale launch of luminescent poster incorporating a high intensity white light emitting inorganic Electro-Luminescent (EL) panel with printed materials and images that change similar to animated presentations. In developing this new luminescent poster, DNP has applied the high intensity illumination light sources from inorganic EL to the back of the color printed images in a segment format, which is format that is used for displaying patterns involving multiple display parts which flicker ON and OFF, resulting in images that stand out in a similar way as those in animated presentations. The posters panels can be manufactured in flexible materials, such as plastics and it can be attached to curved surfaces such as columns. In addition to this, the new displays offer a wider viewing angle than LCD displays.
The new displays cost less than illuminated displays that use florescent light or LED as their light sources. The new display weight just 1kg for a 728 X 1,030 mm size, making it easy to install or replace. The power supply comes separately and it weighs about 1kg. The new display shares the same life span of inorganic EL which is a maximum of 20,000 hours, plus it comes with 60% reduced power consumption in comparison to fluorescent lighting. The new display panels do not emit heat when in use, making them safe to touch. The new panel comes with a price tag of 267,000 per unit for lots of 100 units, and dimensions of 728 X 1,030 mm (without applicable taxes).
