Release of Capacitive Touch Panel for Automobile Application by SMK
SMK has announced the development and release of automotive capacitive panel, featuring various functions including, multi-touch input for expanding or shrinking maps, flick input method for scrolling through map, as well as drag and drop function for destination settings. The new display has a full-flat structure which is completely level with the screen housing through attaching a design film to the surface of the touch panel.
The new panel has a operating temperature of -30 to +85 degrees Celsius and a storage temperature of -40 to 95 degrees Celsius. The touch panel size is within automobile display size of 6.1 to 8 inches. The new panel has a reduced reflection on touch panel plus a zero-force touch input. The new panel will be used in car navigation equipment and central controls for vehicles. The company is foreseeing a monthly production of 100,000 units (for 6.5 inch units).
