Development of New Roller Guide with High Performance Side Seals by NSK
Roller guides offers both high rigidity and large load capacity, making them ideal for such application as machine tools used in production environments. The currently used roller guides are susceptible to fine dust particles that can find their way into roller guide slider causing abnormal abrasion of the raceway, resulting in impairment of the rotation of the rolling element. While conventional roller guides are enclosed in covers to prevent penetration of dust particles, the covers fail to completely stop particle penetration. In response to this, NSK has developed a new roller guide which is equipped with high performance side seals, featuring durability under harsh operating conditions where the lubrication tends to dry out or become contaminated by dust.
In developing the new product NSK has added the rail cover that prevents buildup of foreign particles in the mounting bolt holes, therefore preventing particle entry into the side of the roller guide, boasting abrasion resistance performance by more than five folds in comparison to conventional products. In addition to this NSK K1™ Lubrication Unit improve roller guide track surface and side seal area lubrication performance, helping to minimize any tear-off of the side-seal lip. NSK will start selling the new roller guide series in March of 2011.
