Development of a New SoC, supporting High-Speed Continuous Shooting and 16 Mega Pixel Resolution by Renesas Electronics
Renesas Electronics has announced the release of a new System-on-chip (SoC) delivering industry leading 16 megapixel resolution, ability of capturing full HD video, and supporting high-speed continuous image shooting, which is required by high-end mobile phones and smartphones, as well as other high-end cameras. The new CE150 SoC features high speed enhancements which includes a two-lane MIPI®CSI-2, a high-speed output interface from camera to the mobile phone application processor. The new CE150 SoC comes with an improved noise-reduction function and company’s Neo Clear Resolution™ single-frame ultra-high-resolution technology, resulting in a superior photo quality.
The product comes with optional firmware for implementing functions such as anti-blurring stability enhancement, smile detection, as well as object tracking. The CE150 SoC is available now at a sample price of US$40 per unit. The mass production is to commence on March of 2011 with a forecasted monthly production of 1,000,000 units.
