Industry’s First Oxide Semiconductor based LCD Panels by Sharp
Sharp has announced the development of high performance small and medium size LCD panels using oxide semiconductor, InGaZnO. The new panels were designed to full fill the market demand for small to medium size LCD panels that are being used in smartphones as well as Tablet PCs offering quality display which includes high resolution and high picture quality as well as being light weight in a small form factor with low power consumption.
Sharp has developed and is planning to commercialize a thin-film transistor using the new material. Development of such panels was possible by downsizing the transistor and increasing the light transmittance for each pixel. In addition to this, Sharp’s unique UV2A technology will provide a superior display quality for these panels. Production of the new panels will start at Kameyama Plant No. 2 within 2011.
