Development of Color Electronic Paper Display Technology featuring Enhanced Brightness and Color Reproducibility by RICOH
Based on world’s first new organic electrochromic material with capability of producing 3 primary colors while improving memory properties this was developed by Ricoh back in March 2009, the company has developed color electronic paper display technology which is capable of achieving a bright display at low power consumption and low cost. Through this success in achieving bright images with high color image reproducibility, Ricoh has worked toward practical application through improving reliability/repetition durability for guaranteeing tens of thousands of rewrites and larger screen size.
The new technology will go beyond document display devices capable of displaying fine characters to multitude of other applications in parallel. Ricoh is currently showcasing the new technology at DISPLAY WEEK 2011 of SID (The Society for information Display) being held in Los Angeles from May 15th to 20th.

[...] Ricoh has announced release of eWriter™ solution, comprise of eQuill, a business-class tablet and back-end services, with an aim to replace paper-based writing solutions with efficient digital alternatives. The eQuill, a tablet will function as a clipboard, and the eWriter as a back-end Workflow Services. The new eWriter solution would eliminate paper-based processes from the workflow, such as forms setup, photocopying, scanning, archiving, paper disposal and more. The eQuill will connect to eWriter Workflow Services through WiFi or 3G services. The solution can be applied to such areas as healthcare, document management, credit and insurance claim processing, home and business audits and inspections, civil and police reporting to name a few. The eWriter Solution imports and exports standard PDF files ,while at the same time is designed to easily integrates with leading data capture, document/content management, Electronic Health Records as well as other business automation systems using PHP and C# APIs. The eQuill is a 9.7 inch black and white screen, which weighs about a pound. The company is planning the shipment of the eQuill in summer of 2011, with entry-level price starting at under $500.
