Development of High-Performance 8-bit MCUs with Embedded Flash for Home and Industrial Applications
Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe has release new series of 8-bit microcontrollers (MCUs) with embedded flash memory, designed for system control of small home applianes, lighting as well as industrial equipment, such as LED ballasts, induction heating, DC-DC converters, power tools and battery chargers. The new 32-pin MB95F430 series includes several products featuring four channels of built-in analogue voltage comparators and an operational amplifier. The new MCU series is also ideal as a sub-controller due to its several 8 and 16-bit timers, 17 channels of 10-bit ADC, PWM, I2C as well as USART serial communication modules and more. The new MCUs on-chip high precision RC oscillator and low-voltage detection circuit help the device manufacturer to reduce BOM cost. The new MCUs’ Dual Operation Flash memory with up to 100,000 erase cycles and 20 year data retention capability eliminates any needs for external EERPOM. Furthermore, the on-chip debug module with single-wire interface, will expedite software development using the softune integrated Development Environment, Fujitsu’s full-featured tool chain for F2MC-8FX family MCUs. The product memeory ranges from 8KB flash/ 240 RAM to 20KB flash/496B RAM.

[...] Fujitsu Semiconductor has launched 64 new 32-bit microcontrollers (MCU) based on the ARM® Cortex™ M3 processor core. The new MCUs are divided into two groups, namely a High Performance Group with a total of 54 products as well as an Ultra Low Leak Group with a total of 10 products. The High Performance Group of products is designed for processor intensive system controllers as well as communications oriented systems, they feature CAN and USB 2.0 functionality, as well as the industry’s first 2-channel Ethernet support. On the other hand the Ultra Low Leak group of products is optimized for a broad range of battery-powered applications and low-cost products. The High Performance Group of products come with high-speed CPU and onboard flash memory, with no wait time in read-operation responses even at 144 MHz, for high speed processing. The Ultra Low Leak group of products on the other hand comes with low-power CPU and power-gating technology, helping the product to draw less electricity for extending battery runtimes. They can be run over a wide range of driving voltage from 1.8V to 5.5V, making them ideal for a wide range of battery-powered applications, including medical equipment, home electronics, as well as digital entertainment equipment.
