Sony releases World’s First DVB-C2 Compliant Demodulator LSI
Sony does it again, this time by releasing world’s first DVB-C2 (Digital Video Broadcasting-Cable 2) compliant demodulator standard. The new digital cable TV broadcasting standard is the next generation standard with an aim to significantly increase data transmission capacity while optimizing use of transmission channel by enabling multichannel and high quality HD broadcasting. DVB-C2 conforms with multilevel modulation making it 16 times denser than DVB-C , while providing tolerance against reflections and interference.
The new LSI features Sony’s proprietary reception algorithms as well as error correction technology , resulting in stable and highly sensitive reception, while managing to reduce power consumption. The LSI comes in a small form factor through reduction of number of pins. The new DVB-C2 compatible CXD2835ER demodulator is also works with current DVB-C standard, while the CXD2836ER demodulator is compatible with current DVB-C, DVB-T, DVB-T2 standards, enabling flexible hardware design, while contributing to miniaturization and reduction in number of components. Sony will market the new products by targeting TV, set top box (STB) and other related products manufacturers in Europe and other region where the DVB-C2 standard is expected to expand.
