Development of Silent Bearing for Automotive Electric Motors by NSK
In an effort to make automotive engine quieter, NSK has introduced a long-lasting silent bearing for automotive engine through use of improved lubrication performance and noise control and sound isolation technology. NSK new bearings remains silent for an extended period of time at a high temperature through use of newly developed grease in addition to conventional noise damping technique based on optimization of internal design.

The new product features an improved thermal resistance, plus anti-rust and other properties of conventional quiet grease. The new bearing seizure life has been extended by 1.6 times compared to conventional product by improving its thermal resistance. In developing the new bearing NSK has reduced the raceway noise by improving machine precision, and reduced the cage noise through use of restrained cage play, and finally reduced the seal noise by improving lubricity of seal slide. On the other hand the resonant noise has been reduced by optimizing preload and internal bearing dimensions. The newly developed grease halves the acoustic life deterioration which exists in currently available grease.

[...] NSK has rolled out a new high-performance and longevity cage-equipped thrust bearing, designed for hydraulic static transmission (HST) in agricultural machinery. The new NSK bearing uses EP steel in outer and inner races due to its strength against sub-surface fatigue. In addition to this, NSK applies a special heat treatment, which also adds resistance to surface fatigue, for the inner as well as outer races and balls. Furthermore, the new bearing uses a plastic cage that makes it resistant to repeated stress, resulting in an improved reliability under the heavy load conditions. source Share and Enjoy: [...]
