Development of High-Performance SPI Serial EEPROM for Automotive Industry by Seiko Instruments
Seiko Instruments (SII) has announced the release of S-25AxxxB series of SPI Serial EEPROMs for automobile industry. The new series achieves the data-writes of 300,000 and data retention of 50 years at 125 degrees Celsius. The memory capacity is from 8kb to 256kb. The new series eliminate electronic leakage bit-errors, and utilizes special low power and voltage fluctuation detection circuits for preventing errors caused by electrical noise or power variations.
The new series are available in SOP-8, TSSOP-8, and TMSOP-8 packages. Typical applications for the new series include engines, transmission, and EPS control system, ABS, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), as well as airbag, key-less entry, air-conditioning, dashboard display and BCM (Body Control Module). SII is expecting annual sales of 5 million pieces.
