Teijin has announced the development and commercialization of new separators for lithium ion secondary batteries (LIBs). The new separators are coated with a fluorine-based compound, world’s first, providing superior heat resistance and adhesion resulting in superior output and safety in laminated type LIBs for tablet PCs and smartphones.
The new separator which will be sold under the Lielsort brand name has an improved output of 20% compared to conventional LIBs and it can be combined with a high-potential positive electrode to extend battery life by several times longer than batteries with currently available separators.
