World First Installment of Monolithic Ceramic Capacitors on Interposer Substrates
Murata Manufacturing has announced the mass production of monolithic ceramic capacitors on interposer substrates, a first time in the world for a monolithic ceramic that has been used as a countermeasure for squealing, a phenomenon whereby mechanical vibration occurs when a voltage is applied to a ceramic material. Sound is emitted due to the vibration of the printed circuit board. The new installment will provide the interposer substrate with an ability to absorb vibration generated in the capacitor, and greatly suppressing the transmission if vibration to the main board.
Among some of its applications are mobile devices such as smartphones, PCs, digital still cameras as well as audio/visual devices such as television receivers.
