Teijin Chemicals has co-developed Panlite AM-9937F with Toyota Gosei Co., Ltd. The new Panlite AM-9937F is a resin material featuring superb dimensional precision along with ultra-smooth surface for automotive applications. The new resin would help the automotive manufacture to design products that were previously unachievable due to the limitation of conventional metal. Teijin is planning to market the new resin for external automotive body parts and garnish. The new Panlite AM-9937F is a polymer alloy made by combining Teijin Chemical’s proprietary polycarbonate Panlite and polyester resin. Among its key features are moldibility, design flexibility, as well as high resistance to impact, heat and corrosion as well as a low linear expansion coefficient.

Furthermore, the light weight material would help automobile manufacturers to reduce the weight of components by approximately 20% in comparison to metal helping to achieve fuel efficient vehicles. The new material has been recently adopted for the luggage door garnish on the LEXUS HS250h hybrid sedan. The company is expected to make annual sales of 10 billion yen by fiscal 2020.
