23:35 Industry’s First Zero-Power Photo Detect IC by Seiko Instrument
Seiko Instrument has announced world’s first zero-power detect IC which enables the design of light/dark detection switch circuits with zero-power consumption (nW class) when it is combined with a photo diode, LED, or other photovoltaic devices. The new “S-5470” series ICs feature very low power consumption of 0.1 nA (typ.)at a 5.5V supply voltage which can be used with a number of different photovoltaic devices including photo diodes, LEDs, solar batteries, etc. It features a wide operating voltage in range of 0.9V-5.5V and small SOT-23-5 package measuring only 2.9×2.8×1.3 mm.
Using the new IC monofunctional photo detect and illuminance difference detection are possible. In addition to this it is possible to combine the new IC series with various photovoltaic devices. The new ICs typical applications are auto power-off various portable devices, wireless equipment, such as a mouse, a keyboard as well as a remote controller, smartphone phone, tablet PC, automatic lighting, and non-contact switch.
