Development of “AKARIE” a Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells based Lighting by Nissha Printing
Nissha Printing and Shimane Institute for Industrial Technology have jointly developed the “AKARIE” dye-sensitized solar cells based lighting, capable of generating electricity during the daytime and can be used as a light source via its inside LED during night. As a result the newly developed “AKARIE” offers three functions of electricity generation, electricity storage as well as lighting emission, eliminating any needs for electrical work for its installation.
Furthermore, through various design characteristic of the EneLEAF, the LED can light up the picture on the surface of the product when it is switched ON. The newly developed AKARIE comes in a form factor of 200 mm (W) x 200 mm (D) x 85 mm(H) with weight of 3.7 kg. The new product offers a luminance which is equivalent to approximately 10 candelas. The suggested retail price for the AKARIE is 200,000 YEN (Excluding consumption tax). The new product has been welcomed by food-service industry with its interest for products offering superior environmental performance. The company is targeting for 200 million yen in sales in fiscal year of 2015.
