Denso’s Lithium-ion Battery Pack help to Increase Fuel Efficiency in Vehicles
Denso Corporation has successfully developed a lithium-ion battery pack which helps to improve fuel efficiency on vehicles with stop/start systems. The newly developed battery pack by Denso allows the stop/start system to use more regenerative power than currently available single lead-acid battery. The new battery pack comes with a battery management unit and power supply control switch, as well as battery cells that are provided by a third party source.
The new battery pack stores regenerated power and then supplies the stored regenerated power to the electrical and electronic component, such as the vehicle navigation and audio systems, helping to reduce the power generation required by the alternator, resulting in an overall load reduction on the engine while improving vehicle’s overall fuel economy. Being naturally air-cooled eliminates a dedicated battery cooling system allowing the battery to be lighter and more compact giving the automaker with an increased design flexibility.
