New Technology by NEC allowing consumer to talk to their Household Appliances
NEC has announced the development of speech recognition technologies that would allow household electronics to be controlled via voice commands through a combination of noise cancellation and speech enhancement technologies developed by the company. The new technology would allow devices to reliably operate by voice through an interface and microphones that accurately recognizes individual’s voice. The new technology would extend the accuracy of voice recognition even in a noisy environment. The new technology would allow navigation system to overcome background noise and accurately detect voice commands from driver of a moving vehicle.
The new technology would enable devices that are equipped with two microphones to detect voice and background noise signals and then sequentially estimate and remove the noise components, leaving only the voice component behind. As a result, electrical appliances ad devices can be easily operated by voice while user’s hands remain free.
