Development of New Laser Radar Technology for avoiding Low Impact Vehicle Collisions
Denso has announced the development of compact laser radar, an active safety technology in order to avoid low-speed collisions. The new laser radar is used as a sensor for the Smart Assist System of the Daihatsu Move, which was released in Japan last December. The new laser radar comes with a simpler bean generation mechanism that its predecessor, furthermore, the electronic control unit in the newly laser was integrated into the signal processing boards, which were typically separate.
In addition to this, in order to reduce the overall size of the radar, the company has used a smaller lens. Smart Assist System consists of four technologies, one being the brakes that assist low-speed crash avoidance, the second being gas pedal misoperation control, third being the technology that informs the motion of vehicle in front and finally the fourth being VSC and TRC. Denso’s laser radar will be used to detect obstacles in front of the vehicle.
