Introducing Lightjoule, an Ultra-lightweight Solar Panel by AGC
AGC has unveiled an ultra-lightweight solar panel through use of Leoflec, a thin and strong chemically strengthened specialty glass. The company has successfully reduced the panel weight by roughly 50% in comparison to conventional solar panel. Lightweight panels would solve the loading weight restriction where the user had to reduce the number of solar panels installed or carry out roof reinforcement work prior to installation.
Due to its lightweight, the Lightjoule™ can be installed on rooftops where large number of panels are required improving the efficiency of installation work at reduced installation cost. The Lightjoule™ is a single crystal silicon cell type with maximum output of 225 W and conversion efficiency of 15.41%. The panel weighs 9.5 kg and a form factor of 1482 x 985 x 35 mm.
