Development of World’s Smallest 13 Megapixel CMOS Image Sensor for Smartphone
Toshiba has launched a 13 megapixel BSI CMOS image sensor featuring an optical format of 1/3.07 inch targeted at smartphone and tablet market. The new “T4KB3” offer a reduced power consumption of 53% of current Toshiba’s current sensors.
The new sensor incorporates 8Kbit of one-time-programmable (OTP) memory capable of storing lens shading correction data for two conditions indoors as well as outdoors with different light profile, allowing the user to switch from one to other with a simple command for better image capture. The sensor is capable of HD video capture at 120 fps. It features “Bright Mode” technology to boost image brightness up to four times.
