Development of CMOS Image Sensor with Double the performance for Small and Low Power Applications
Toshiba today has unveiled its latest CMOS image sensor featuring a small area and low power pixel readout circuits offering double the performance of conventional CMOS image sensors. The low power pixel readout circuits in CMOS image sensors are needed for their noise reducing correlated double sampling (CDS), and are accompanied with a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) and an analog to digital converter (ADC). Development of High Acceleration Megatorque Motor by NSK
NSK has announced the development of new Megatorque motor ™ PX Series which dramatically reduce positioning time and enhances precision, helping to improve productivity fir LEDs and automotive ICs. The new motor will help reducing the positioning when transferring light items such as electronic components helping to improve reliability in inspection equipment for LEDs and automotive ICs. Double acceleration and deceleration in this newly developed motor has been achieved by reducing the moment of inertia of moving element (rotor) of the motor significantly. Read more
Development of Industry’s Smallest Batter Connector by OMRON
Omron has recently announced the successful development of industry’s smallest battery connector measuring only 2mm pitch and 2.6mm depth. The new super compact XD2B battery connector is compatible with batteries used in smartphones and other mobile devices. The new XD2B’s contact is much stronger than commercially available pressed materials, while its spring contact configuration fits tightly to the battery contact pad improving contact force, resulting in greater resistance against momentary power outages caused by drop impacts. Development of Highly Functional Painting Technology helping to Eliminate Middle Coating Process by HONDA
Honda Motor has developed the “Honda Smart Ecological Paint (Honda S.E. Paint)” process a painting technology which would eliminate a middle coating process from conventionally used 4-coat/3-bake auto body painting process, resulting in a 3-coat/2-bake water-based painting process. Eliminating the middle coating process would normally limit the paint colors which can be used, but Honda has solved this problem by developing a new material for color base coat in the final coating process, making it possible to use any exterior paint color, industry’s first for a 3-coat/2-bake process. Development of Industry’s Most Sensitive CMOS Image Sensor by Toshiba
Toshiba has released industry’s most sensitive 20MP BSI CMOS image sensor helping to boost image quality in digital still cameras. The new TCM5115CL CMOS offers industry’s highest resolution in 1/2.3 inch optical format using backside illumination technology (BSI) helping to improve sensitivity and imaging performance. Read more
Development of Low-Melting Glass to be used as Low Temperature Sealant
Hitachi and Hitachi Chemical have jointly developed a 220-300 degrees Celsius, low-melting temperature glass (“low-melting glass”). The glass has been developed as a low temperature sealant which does not contain regulated materials such as lead or halogens such as fluorine or iodine. The new product is relatively inexpensive in comparison to gold-tin solder, a conventional low-temperature sealant, while providing better sealant properties than adhesive resins against air and moisture. Development of Four Legged ROBOT by Toshiba
As the recovery works continue at crippled Fukushima No.1 Nuclear power plant the officials in charge of the investigation and recover work are working hard to find a way to minimize the risk for individuals working at the plant which makes use of robots as an indispensable solution to carry out this operations. One company which has been involved in developing such solution is Toshiba which has developed a tetrapod (four-legged) robot to carry out such type of missions. The new robot comes with an integrated camera and dosimeter capable of investigating the condition of nuclear power plants by remote-controlled operation. Read more
Development of Battery-Free Display RFID Device by Toppan
Toppan Printing has successfully developed a battery-free display RFID device capable of displaying text and images. The new 2.7 inch dot-matrix electronic paper display is capable of changing its display contents without the use of battery power. All information on the device can be read and written and displayed using only the power supply from the read/writer. Read more
Development of Revolutionary Method of Drug Injection by FujiFilm
This got to be the most painless way of injecting drug into patient body. This new revolutionary method of injecting drug into body was developed Fujifilm by simply attaching micro-needle array sheet onto the skin. The micro-array sheet is a sheet arrayed with projections of 100-2000 micrometers. When it is placed on the skin surface, the drug is injected into the skin from the projections and delivered into the body, without any pain like needle injection. The projections of the developed micro-needle array are made of polysaccharides that are known to be used for injectable drugs. Read more
Development of Industry’s First Lubricating Oil Supply Unit with Self-power Generator
NTN Corporation has announced the development of the “Lubricating Oil Supply Unit with Self-power Generator”. The new product provides a reliable, long-term supply of lubricant into the bearing without any needs of external power supply or lubricant. The new Lubricating Oil Supply Unit features a generator, battery, controller, lubrication tank as well as oil delivery pump built into the spacer of the outer ring adjacent to the bearing.
