NEC launch of new high capacity, IP-based mobile backhaul, ePASOLINK wireless transmission system could not have come at a better come, with increasing demand for high capacity data transmission with introduction of such mobile broadband technologies as HSPA, WiMAX and the long anticipated LTE services in Japan. The solution has been targeted to fulfill the Japan mobile operators’ capacity demand in the tail links to cell sites and in aggregation portion of backhaul. ePASOLINK is capable of providing throughput of up to 2.5 Gbps in the E-band spectrum range of 70/80 GHz, where traditionally mobile operators have met the capacity needs with microwave and optical solutions. NTT DOCOMO’s announcement on start of verification of its new commercial mobile network system on June 8 in Tokyo District is a prelude in start of full-scale launch of extra-high-speed LTE commercial service which company is planning to start sometimes on December of this year. The LTE service success rest solely on smooth handover from its existing W-CDMA to LTE service. Fujitsu Microelectronic made an announcement on launch of their entry product into mobile phone market. The newly developed product is a RF transceiver IC capable of supporting both the 2G (GSM/GPS/EDGE) as well as a maximum of 4 bands simultaneously within the 10 frequency bands of 3G (UMTS/HSPA) protocols. Furthermore, it comes with a 3G DigRF interface. The DigRF interface is an interface standard between the RF IC and baseband IC in wireless mobile devices. Read more
