Development of Sensor Modules featuring Industry’s Smallest Micro-Vibration Power Generators
In a collaborative effort among Asahi Glass (AGC), OMRON, Konishiyasu Co. and THHINK Wireless Technologies JAPAN LTD, AGC has announced the development of sensor modules which are equipped with world’s smallest micro-vibration power generation. The new sensor technology would eliminate any needs for wiring to supply electric power to the sensor unit as well as any needs for battery replacement and other type of maintenance issues, due to the fact that the new sensor’s power requirement is generated through its small-sized power generator based on micro-vibration power generation converting small vibration into electrical energy. Development of New Series of Ecoglass Products by Asahi Glass
Asahi Glass Company (AGC) has announced the development of new ecoglass products. The company will launch four new products under the brand name of Sunbalance™ including the “Sunbalance Aqua Green” and “Sunbalance Pure Clear”. Sunbalance Aqua Green E (high-performance type)/ Aqua Green (Standard Type) feature both a high heat shielding effect for protecting against heat and a high heat insulation effect for protecting against cold, offering superior energy-saving performance throughout the year. Development of Industry’s Thinnest Soda-lime Glass Substrate for TouchScreen Devices by Asahi Glass
Asahi Glass has announced the development of world’s thinnest soda-lime type glass substrate designed for touchscreens of such devices as smart phones and Tablet PCs. The newly developed glass substrate measures just 0.28 mm, which is 15% less than commercially available substrate at 0.33 mm, while being 15% lighter in weight, a major contributing factor in further miniaturization of smart phones and tablet PCs in the near future. Development of Non-Electric, Anti-Fogging Glass Door by Asahi Glass
Asahi Glass Company otherwise known as AGC has announced the development of non-electric glass door for freezing showcases for the first time in Japan. The new glass was developed based on the request from convenience store chains, to help them further in saving in electricity. The new product in WINDOOR® E series is deigned to conserve energy as it prevents the formation of dew condensation without use of electricity. Normally, the freezing showcases due to lower temperature setting require electricity to warm up the glass surface in preventing the formation of dew condensation. Read more

Asahi Glass Company (AGC) has announced the launch of Dragontail ™, a chemically strengthen glass material which is six times stronger than conventional soda-lime glass. The new Dragontail is highly resistance to scratch, featuring a beautiful, pristine finish, compared to resin. The company uses a highly efficient float process in manufacturing Dragontail through extensive technical expertise in manufacturing specialized glass for electronics through manufacturing TFT glass substrates.
