Asahi Glass Co (AGC) has recently developed AFLIC™, a specialty thin sheet glass for architectural use. The new product features an outstanding strength where at its 1.3 mm thick is equivalent to that of 3 mm thick float glass. The new AFLIC will be used in the new triple-layered glass unit developed for high performance hybrid window SAMOS X, which are scheduled to be released by LIXIL Corporation in January and March 2015. AGC has unveiled an ultra-lightweight solar panel through use of Leoflec, a thin and strong chemically strengthened specialty glass. The company has successfully reduced the panel weight by roughly 50% in comparison to conventional solar panel. Lightweight panels would solve the loading weight restriction where the user had to reduce the number of solar panels installed or carry out roof reinforcement work prior to installation. Read more

The new sensor technology would eliminate any needs for wiring to supply electric power to the sensor unit as well as any needs for battery replacement and other type of maintenance issues, due to the fact that the new sensor’s power requirement is generated through its small-sized power generator based on micro-vibration power generation converting small vibration into electrical energy.
