Alps announced the release of high-precision latch 2-phase output type magnetic sensor. The new super compact sensor combines two capabilities within single package, enabling to detect rotation speed as well as direction, helping to reduce number of sensors required for a non-contact encoder while saving space inside automotive equiment.. The new HGPRDT series exhibits high robustness against gap variation achieved by adopting highly sensitive elements and it can be used as a non-contact encoder. Development of “Liqualloy”, a Power Inductor for High-Current Applications
Alps Green Devices has announced the development of “GLMD Series” Liqualloy™ Power Inductor which is designed for high-current applications such as CPU power supplies in notebook PCs, servers, as well as other type of electronic equipment. The Liqualloy, the core material in the inductor, is a metallic glass with magnetic properties which has been developed jointly with Tohoku University, where it features industry leading low losses. Metallic glass is a type of amorphous metal with a disordered atomic structure, ideal for industrial applications due to its super cooled liquid region like oxide glass helping the new inductor to operate in lower losses than previous inductors, particularly when operating under light loads. Alps has released a new SKSH Series TACT switch ideal for portable devices such as mobile phones and audio players. In developing new switch, Alps has applied its simulation technology, a new metal contact with a pressed microscopic doughnut-type extrusion, providing a wide operational range despite its compact size. Furthermore, has added a partitioned construction to the fixed contact area in order to improve contact reliability.
