Release of World’s Smallest Level of Pixel Size CMOS Image Sensor
Toshiba has announced the release of a new 1.12 micrometer pixel CMOS image sensor, featuring industry’s smallest level of pixel size with enhanced sensitivity and improved imaging performance thanks to back-side illumination technology (BSI). Introduction of BSI in image sensor technology was mainly to overcome the performance fall out due to continued miniaturization of smartphones offering higher resolution image quality now in range of 5M to 8M pixels.
