Development of Japan’s First Large Capacity Cargo Container-Type Energy Storage System

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has announced the development of Japan’s First cargo container-type large capacity storage system that uses lithium-ion rechargeable battery. This mobile energy storage system is capable of providing up to one megawatts of power ideal for use in emergency situations. The newly developed, “megawatt-class large capacity energy storage system (ESS)” is a 40ft container unit, housing more than 2,000 units of lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, plus a 20ft long container unit, where to power conditioners is installed.
