Release of Super Speed Low-Power USB 3.0 Host Controller by Renesas Electronics
Renesas electronics has announced the release of two new high-speed USB 3.0 host controllers to be used in such devices as PCs and digital TVs. The new host controllers namely uPD720201 and uPD720202 will provide a easier path for system designer in building electronic devices combining high-speed data transfer, compact form factor as well as extend battery life. In addition to this, the two host controllers come with Renesas device drivers for Microsoft Windows and Linux. The two new host controllers come with a new four-port, contributing to faster speeds, improved power efficiency (4.5 milliwatt in low-power mode) and reduced size of approximately 50% that Renesas previous USB 3.0 host controllers.
